Fancy playing this lot?

A team top of the division by default - the other teams are running scared and won't play them.

Worked for a law firm in the late sixties.
We played in a midweek 5-a-side league at Bethnal Green (on the site of the old Bedlam lunatic asylum).
First game of the season we played some mob comprised of a bunch of old blokes, who called everybody "prick" or "penis" (or whatever) at every opportunity plus a youngster (about 18) who just ran around punching everybody. When the referee sent him off he beat up the ref and then ran off.
His team mates then threatened us not to report any of this or we'd all get beaten up even more...

Played a team called South Bermondsy once. Was giving them the right run around. Come on after half time their skipper rubbed vicks in my eyes. Game over. Lovely bloke.

I played cricket for the school going back many years, this big black guy bowls a beamer straight at my head on purpose and then gives me the look, i lost it and chased him with the cricket back and back then i was a skinny little runt so was probably not a good idea even with the cricket bat. Anyway went out later that night to a town centre disco for under 16's (as it was then) and ran in to him and a group of his mates who were all alot bigger than me, took a few punches but got away. Lessoned learnt, make sure you do the c-nt while you have the cricket bat!

Not half as bad as that team in Brazil who after a poor decision chopped the referees head off.

Re: Fancy playing this lot?
Never really had any WARS with other teams... remember a full scale riot between us and Shoebury Boys which included about 20 odd of their fans running on the pitch... that was a bit interesting ... but it deffo helped having `The Woodcutter Arms' on our shirts as sponsors... nice bit of protection... best bit of agro I ever saw was an oppo' player getting sent off.. then getting pulled off the ref after he grappled with him... run off to the changing room , jumped in his car (a capri) and the spent the next couple of mins driving on the pitch trying to mow down the ref (who hid behind a tree)... Oh the loon got a life ban...

Re: Fancy playing this lot?
Many years ago we started a team and joined the Dagenham sunday league we were all straight out of school 15 and 16 year olds.
The league in their wisdom put us in the second division. Our very first game was against Royal Oak the pub team from Canning Town who had quite a reputation.
You can imagine we were shitting ourselves but we played and despite losing 4-2 they didn't take liberties.Royal Oak's next match was abandoned after three of their players were sent off so really we got off lightly.

Re: Fancy playing this lot?
The sunday morning team I played for had a team like that in our division. We played them away and there was a police car parked up for the first half watching the game and they were jolly splendid & sportsmanlike. 2nd half was a 180 degree turnaround, not helped by our No9 going down all theatrical and gaining us a penalty even though it was one of theirs refereeing the game . We got away sharpish at the final whistle after effectively throwing the game, just grabbed our bags from the changing room up jumped in the cars. Seen plenty of shameful shenanigans over the marshes etc..
